Being in an elevated position, this massive fortress houses the picturesque scenery of the whole locality, especially the view of the peaks from this fort is incomparable.  The small path, which leads to the fortress itself kindle one’s curiosity. It is amazing to notice that the surrounding area of this fort will be fully cultivated during the Monsoon season and one have to voyage kilometers to reach to the base of this colossal structure. A magnificent temple dedicated to lord Hanuman makes a marvelous setting to this stunning fort.

A favourite tourist spot in the Igatpuri Region, Tringalwadi Fort also provides excellent opportunities of trekking.
The Tringalwaid Fort is situated about 7 kilometers from Igatpuri in the Nasik district. Each year during the rains, the Fort becomes the destination of trekkers. The trek up to the fort takes a couple of hours.  The Fort's origins are obscure, but it is generally believed that it was constructed in the 10th century.  The stepped path leading up to the Fort is quite steep. The Fort is accessed through a doorway that has been carved out of monolithic rock.  A figure of Hanuman can be seen carved into the rock next to the doorway.  The Fort even has a postern (a concealed secondary entryway) in its eastern wall. A cave is situated a few metres away from the path leading up to the postern.  Most of the Fort lies in ruins. Signs of some structures and cisterns are all that remain of what may have been a formidable bastion.  The ruins of a Jain shrine can be seen some metres below the Fort's eastern wall.

  1. Nice post on Igatpuri adventure. It is known as queen of hill stations and Igatpuri tourism is more famous among trekkers and hikers.
